Oreo Cookie Cake!

Who doesn't like Oreos?  Now, I know that there will be people who will say they don't like Oreos out there, but I am just not sure I trust those people..lol.  Have they ever really eaten Oreos?  I just don't think they could have possibly eaten an Oreo and still say they don't like them.  Have you had the Oreo Blizzard?   Well, this cake reminds me of an Oreo Blizzard in cake form.  It's a cake that won't stay around long if you have Oreo lovers in the house.   Here is what you need:

1 pkg. chocolate cake mix and the ingredients to make it (substitute Sprite or 7 Up for the water in it)
1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 8 oz. frozen whipped topping, thawed
1/2 cup powdered sugar
15 Oreo cookies, crushed
6 oz. semi sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter (not margarine)

Bake cake in 2  9" pans as directed, using Sprite or 7 Up for the water.  Cool completely before assembling the cake.

Melt chocolate chips and butter in the microwave and stir to blend well...about 2 minutes, stirring in halfway through.  let stand for 5 minutes.

Beat the cream cheese and sugar together.  Fold in the whipped topping and the crushed cookies.

Place a cake layer on a cake plate and spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over it.  Place the other cake layer on top.

Spread the chocolate over the top of the last layer.  If it drips a little over the sides it's ok.  If the chocolate becomes too stiff, microwave for 30 seconds and stir.

Let the cake stand and firm up before serving.  It's best if you refrigerate for a few hours or even overnight.  Should be kept refrigerated.

  2. I had to laugh b/c I'm one of those that don't love Oreos. I can eat them but I don't love them. I got sick off them once as a kid and it turned me off of them ever since but at least I can eat them now without being grossed out. Same thing happened with Hershey's kisses, I ate them until I threw up (again, I was young) and still can't stand Hershey's milk chocolate in any form. THankfully I learned how to control myself so I don't get sick off yummy treats and can enjoy them later! haha! I do like oreo cakes, despite not liking the cookies (I'm weird) so this sounds fabulous to me.
