Cherries In The Snow!!!

This is another of those 'oldie but goody' recipes that has been around for years, but is still so good!!!  As I have told you all before, my husband loves anything with cherries, so this one is right up his alley!!!  This recipe is a bit different that some of the recipes for this, but I think this one is the best!!!   I really like the crust!!!    This is a good dessert for any holiday or gathering!!!

Here is what you will need:

1/2 cup butter (1 stick) softened to room temperature
1 cup flour
1 cup pecans, chopped
2  (8 oz.) pkgs. cream cheese, softened to room temperature
4 cups confectioner's sugar
1 (16 oz.)  frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
2  (21 oz.) cans cherry pie filling

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine the butter, flour, and chopped pecans.   Press into the bottom of a 9" x 13" baking dish sprayed with nonstick baking spray.    Bake for 20 -25 minutes.  Cool.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, confectioner's sugar, whipped topping and vanilla until smooth.   Spread over the cooled crust.

Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the tops.  Chill in the fridge until ready to serve!!!
